The Stubbs Bay School was built in 1912 to replace the one roomed white frame structure built in 1893. It was built next to the Henry Stubbs homestead by descendant Cecil Gideon. Mr. Gideon later constructed the State Game Lodge in South Dakota's Black Hills.
